The first edition of Digital Ocean Week, held in Brussels from 8 to 12 June 2026, marked more than a series of high-level events. It brought together a broad European community, from European Commission and Member States representatives to scientists, industry actors and users of marine data, to explore how Europe can build a more integrated and operational Digital Ocean system.
Designed as a connected sequence, the week created a coherent space where political priorities, scientific expertise and technological innovation could intersect. From the Copernicus Marine General Assembly to OceanEye’s high-level discussions and the AI Ocean Forum, each moment contributed to a shared narrative focused on moving from vision to implementation – Building the Digital Ocean System together…

Mercator Ocean Bulletins
Our regularly updated bulletins provide essential data and forecasts on critical Ocean variables. These bulletins leverage Mercator Ocean’s in-house expertise, combining observational datasets and advanced numerical models.
Weekly Marine Heatwave BulletinsWeekly forecasts and analysis of marine heatwave events across the globe and throughout the year. Used datasets include observations (satellite sea surface temperature maps) and numerical model analyses (assimilating satellite and in situ observations) to derive 10-day marine heatwave forecasts.
Monthly Ocean Temperature BulletinsThe Ocean temperature bulletins provide a comprehensive overview of global ocean warming, highlighting new temperature records and their impact as a source of stress on marine ecosystems. These bulletins are available on a monthly basis throughout the year.
Seasonal Sea Ice BulletinsMercator Ocean oceanographers have been studying marine heatwaves across the global Ocean. They analyse a variety of datasets from observation analyses (satellite sea surface temperature maps) to model analyses (assimilating satellite and in situ observations) and model forecasts.
