Ahead of COP31, the Global Implementation Accelerator (GIA) is adding a selection layer to the Global Climate Action Agenda. The agenda coordinates a broad implementation ecosystem built around initiatives and multi-stakeholder Plans to Accelerate Solutions (PAS).
The GIA, formally launched at the seventh session of the meeting of the Paris Agreement’s governing body (CMA.7), and still being designed, will narrow that candidate pool to two high-impact solutions for concentrated acceleration. The selected solutions are intended to receive technical and political priority, supported by efforts to mobilize finance, technology, capacity-building and implementation partnerships.
The shift is therefore not from mobilization to implementation, but from broad implementation to selective acceleration.
